Basel Zoo
Basel-Stadt
Basel Zoo has been captivating visitors ever since it opened in 1874, and is one of Switzerland’s most popular attractions. Its focus is on relaxation, education, conservation and research. Basel Zoo sees itself as an ambassador for the link between humans and nature. It seeks to teach visitors about the importance of nature and help them understand natural relationships. Over its nearly 150 years of history, Basel Zoo has become a tradition rooted in the hearts of Basel’s residents.
A visit is a worthwhile experience all year round: in the summer, the park invites you to enjoy a gentle stroll and see the animals in their outdoor enclosures, whilst the animal houses offer up-close views of the animals during the winter months.
Basel Zoo is a non-profit public company. Around 1,250 shareholders hold 1,700 shares, but no dividends are paid. Instead, buying shares in Basel Zoo is a traditional investment with emotional value. No shareholders have more than five voting rights. Basel Zoo shares are currently trading for CHF 10,000 to 12,000. The tax value is CHF 10,250 (as at 31/12/2019) and the nominal value is CHF 250.
